Example of a Protocol
for Testing AQUATIZE® in the Field
Objective:
To determine the efficacy of Aquatize® under field conditions in comparison to the normal feeding/watering program.
Treatments:
- None (Aquatize®): 5 to 10 houses (replicated units)
- Normal treatment, use antibiotics or whatever is regularly used to decrease problems with pathogens: 5 to 10 houses (replicated units)
- Aquatize®: Use a dilution of 1:2000 from day of placing chicks until the 14th day; then use the product at 1:5000 from the 15th day until the birds are processed. Do not use antibiotics or other regular procedures with Aquatize®: 5 to 10 houses (replicated units).
Criteria to be Collected:
Measurements should be those that are made by Live
Producers.
- Mortality at intervals during Grow-Out and at the end of Grow-Out
- Average Weight of Birds at the End of Test Period, more frequently is acceptable.
- Feed Conversion, House-by-House
- Cost of Feed per Live Weight (Kg) of Animals
- Percent (%) of Animals with Diseases; e.g., Air sacculitis etc.
- Percent of Animals that are Condemned by Inspectors or Culled by Flock Managers
- Economic Payment per Group; per 1000 birds etc.
- Cost of the Group; flock etc.
Terms of the Agreement (All parties should agree in advance of conducting a test.)
- Performance will be based on the cost of feed per Kg of live weight using either paired farms or houses. The alternative is to compare the treatment period to the prior six-flock-average for the identical houses or farms.
- Measurements that are normally collected by live producers will be accepted.
- Two treatments will be tested: normal (control) and Aquatize® without any antibiotics, but the regular coccidiostat program may be followed.
- Both parties will make reasonable efforts to agree in advance of the test on a minimal economic benefit that will result in the commercial use of Aquatize®.
- The live producer agrees to share the test data with the suppliers in exchange for the suppliers providing samples of Aquatize® at no cost to the live producer.
- The Suppliers agree not to share the Live Producer’s performance data with outsiders.
