Recommended Usage Protocols: Broiler Breeders

How to formulate AQUATIZE® stock solutions, sanitize water lines, and dose correctly across the breeder pullet and breeding periods.

Step One

Formulating a Stock Solution

During normal conditions, stock solutions of AQUATIZE® will be utilized in a variation of three (3) dilutions. The three dilutions typically utilized in applying AQUATIZE® are 1:2000 (1 gallon of AQUATIZE® to 2000 gallons of water), 1:3500, and 1:5000. These dilutions indicate the final level of AQUATIZE® to be present within the given volume of water — for instance, 1:2000 indicates one (1) unit of AQUATIZE® in 2000 units of water. Mixing of the stock solution should be done in a clean, plastic bucket.

1:2000 Solution

To create a stock solution with a final dilution of 1:2000, thoroughly mix 32 fluid ounces of concentrated AQUATIZE® in four (4) gallons of water (6.25% AQUATIZE® to water). Use this mixture in a water proportioner that combines one (1) ounce of the mixture with 128 fluid ounces of water.

1:3500 Solution

To create a stock solution with a final dilution of 1:3500, thoroughly mix 4.6 fluid ounces of concentrated AQUATIZE® in one (1) gallon of water (3.6% AQUATIZE® to water). Use this mixture in a water proportioner that combines one (1) fluid ounce of the mixture with 128 fluid ounces of water.

13.7 fluid ounces of concentrated AQUATIZE® in three (3) gallons of water, or 23 fluid ounces of concentrated AQUATIZE® in five (5) gallons of water.

1:5000 Solution

To create a stock solution with a final dilution of 1:5000, thoroughly mix 3.2 fluid ounces of concentrated AQUATIZE® in one (1) gallon of water (2.5% AQUATIZE® to water). Use this mixture in a water proportioner that combines one (1) fluid ounce of the mixture with 128 fluid ounces of water.

9.6 fluid ounces of concentrated AQUATIZE® in three (3) gallons of water, or 16 fluid ounces of concentrated AQUATIZE® in five (5) gallons of water.

Step Two

Cleaning and Sanitizing Water Lines

48–72 hours prior to placing animals in the raising facility:

  • • Prior to using AQUATIZE® (at least 48 hours prior to placement), clean and flush water lines thoroughly to remove biofilm.
  • • Forty-eight (48) hours prior to placement, fill water lines with AQUATIZE® at the 1:2000 dilution level.
  • • Twenty-four (24) hours prior to placement, thoroughly flush water lines and refill lines with the 1:2000 dilution.

Step Three

Normal Conditions / Standard Protocol

Use AQUATIZE® at 1:2000 parts in the drinking water for the first 14 days. Starting on day 14, change the dilutions and water the birds continually with this level of AQUATIZE® as follows:

  • • Administer AQUATIZE® at the 1:3500 level on all feed days in the first drinking water of the day.
  • • Continue this use of AQUATIZE® in this manner throughout the growing phase of raising the breeder pullets and males until 48 hours prior to moving.
  • • Forty-eight (48) hours prior to moving pullets and males to the breeder, increase dilution back to 1:2000 on all water the birds will drink during that period.

High Levels of Bacteria in Water

Use AQUATIZE® at 1:2000 parts in the drinking water during the problematic period. Return to the 1:3500 level after the problem is eliminated.

Step Four

Administering AQUATIZE® During the Breeding Period

48–72 Hrs BeforeClean and sanitize water lines prior to moving birds to the breeder facility.
48+ Hrs BeforeClean and flush water lines thoroughly to remove biofilm before using AQUATIZE®.
48 Hrs BeforeFill water lines with AQUATIZE® at the 1:2000 dilution level.
24 Hrs BeforeThoroughly flush water lines, then refill lines with the 1:2000 dilution.
First 14 DaysUse the 1:2000 dilution level for the first 14 days the pullets and roosters are in the breeder house.
Day 14 → 52 WksAfter the initial 14-day period, administer AQUATIZE® two (2) times per week at the 1:2000 level until the birds reach 52 weeks of age.
After 52 WksAdminister AQUATIZE® daily at the 1:5000 level.
